In 1977, Manley Brittain, then head of our Trust Department, had a vision. He thought it would be a wonderful idea to offer more to our customers than just banking. From this idea our first Travel Club, the Terrell Trippers began. The first trip in 1978 was to Salado, Texas. The first extended trip in 1979 was a Western Caribbean cruise.
From that early beginning, the Travel Club and the Bank have grown from a single location to over twenty banking centers. And our vision has grown too. From Salado, we have gone on to travel the country, the continent, and now the world. In April of 1994 we took 66 people to Austria on our first European venture.
Some of the destinations we have seen over the years include Canada, London, the French Countryside, Ireland, Kenya, Australia, and New Zealand. We try to provide something for everyone by offering events ranging from day trips to the Dallas summer musicals, plays, art exhibits, the zoo and concerts, to short trips to desinations such as Branson, San Diego, Austin, and San Antonio. We travel by every conceivable mode of transportation....bus, train, plane, and boat.
We do not want to leave out those who cannot travel or be gone overnight. We have luncheons annually and also occasionally have coffees, seminars, and trip presentations. Sometimes we have informational speakers, and other times we meet just for fun or to hear a special musical program. Seminar topics have ranged from Living Trusts to the History of the Circus.
We always have a special Christmas activity, which may mean a trip to Marshall to view the Christmas lights or a trip to Nashville for the Opryland Christmas Spectacular. For a number of years we have gone on a Sunday afternoon to the Meyerson to hear the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Choir perform their Christmas Spectacular.
We invite you to join us. If you are interested in being on our mailing list, please email your name and address to anneanb@yahoo.com. If you have suggestions for trips, let us know. We hope to see you soon at one of our ANB Travelers activities.
