American National Bank of Texas Wins Statewide Best of Community Banking Award. Independent Bankers Assoc. of Texas recognizes local bank’s architectural design project.

TERRELL, TX—The Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT)—the largest state community banking association in the nation—honored American National Bank of Texas (ANBTX) with a Best of Community Banking (BOCB) Award in silver for architectural design.

2019 marks the 28th year that IBAT has celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of Texas community banks with the BOCB Award. Community banks, such as American National Bank of Texas, play a critical role in their local communities. The Best of Community Banking competition is designed to local honor banks for their commitment to helping their customers, neighbors, employees and community. BOCB Awards recognize community banks throughout the state for their innovation, creativity and success in fulfilling a specific community or internal need. Each submission received a gold, silver or bronze award in one of five categories: architectural design, bank culture, community service, financial literacy and marketing.

In 2017, ANBTX began renovating the exterior of its Terrell banking center, which serves as the bank’s headquarters and sits in the city’s historic downtown district. The project was part of a larger preservation and revitalization effort by the community.

“Our goal, and the goal of the city, was to retain the history and charm of these over-a-century-old buildings while improving Terrell’s downtown for our residents and visitors.” said Robert Hulsey, president and chief executive officer of American National Bank of Texas. “We renovated our headquarters with a new, more modern mirrored façade, which enhances and reflects the historic architecture of the city. We also made it easier for our customers and employees to access the location—whether they want to walk, drive, or bike,” he continued.

All BOCB gold, silver and bronze winners were on display during IBAT’s 45th Annual Convention at Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston, Sept. 21-24, 2019.
